The Man & the Satyr
O Homem e o Sátiro
A man meets a strange forest creature called a satyr and invites him home for dinner. But the satyr becomes confused by something unexpected about his new human friend.
A man was walking in the forest on a cold winter day.
Um homem caminhava pela floresta num frio dia de inverno.
He met a satyr who lived in the woods.
Ele encontrou um sátiro que vivia na floresta.
"Come to my home," said the satyr.
"Venha à minha casa", disse o sátiro.
"You can warm up there."
"Você pode se aquecer lá."
The man was very cold.
O homem estava com muito frio.
His hands were freezing.
Suas mãos estavam gelando.
He put his hands near his mouth and blew on them.
Ele pôs as mãos perto da boca e soprou nelas.
"Why do you do that?" asked the satyr.
"Por que fazes isso?" perguntou o sátiro.
"I blow on my hands to make them warm," said the man.
"Eu sopro nas minhas mãos para aquecê-las", disse o homem.
They went to the satyr's home.
Foram à casa do sátiro.
The satyr gave the man hot soup.
O sátiro deu ao homem uma sopa quente.
The soup was very hot.
A sopa estava muito quente.
The man blew on the soup to cool it down.
O homem soprou a sopa para esfriá-la.
The satyr saw this and became angry.
O sátiro viu isso e se enfureceu.
"Go away!" said the satyr.
"Vá embora!" disse o sátiro.
"First you blow to make things hot.
"Primeiro você sopra para esquentar as coisas.
Then you blow to make things cold.
Depois você sopra para esfriar as coisas.
I cannot trust someone who does two different things with the same breath!" The satyr pushed the man out of his home.
Não posso confiar em alguém que faz duas coisas diferentes com o mesmo sopro!" O sátiro expulsou o homem de sua casa.
The man had to walk back into the cold forest alone.
O homem teve de caminhar de volta para a floresta fria, sozinho.
