The Man & the Satyr
El Hombre y el Sátiro
A man meets a strange forest creature called a satyr and invites him home for dinner. But the satyr becomes confused by something unexpected about his new human friend.
A man was walking in the forest on a cold winter day.
Un hombre caminaba por el bosque en un frío día de invierno.
He met a satyr who lived in the woods.
Se encontró con un sátiro que vivía en el bosque.
"Come to my home," said the satyr.
—Ven a mi hogar —dijo el sátiro.
"You can warm up there."
"Ahí podrás entrar en calor."
The man was very cold.
El hombre tenía mucho frío.
His hands were freezing.
Tenía las manos heladas.
He put his hands near his mouth and blew on them.
Se llevó las manos cerca de la boca y sopló sobre ellas.
"Why do you do that?" asked the satyr.
"¿Por qué haces eso?" preguntó el sátiro.
"I blow on my hands to make them warm," said the man.
"Soplo en mis manos para calentarlas," dijo el hombre.
They went to the satyr's home.
Fueron a la casa del sátiro.
The satyr gave the man hot soup.
El sátiro le dio al hombre sopa caliente.
The soup was very hot.
La sopa estaba muy caliente.
The man blew on the soup to cool it down.
El hombre sopló la sopa para enfriarla.
The satyr saw this and became angry.
El sátiro vio esto y se enfureció.
"Go away!" said the satyr.
¡Vete de aquí! —dijo el sátiro.
"First you blow to make things hot.
"Primero soplas para calentar las cosas.
Then you blow to make things cold.
Luego soplas para enfriar las cosas.
I cannot trust someone who does two different things with the same breath!" The satyr pushed the man out of his home.
¡No puedo confiar en alguien que hace dos cosas diferentes con el mismo aliento! El sátiro empujó al hombre fuera de su hogar.
The man had to walk back into the cold forest alone.
El hombre tuvo que caminar de regreso al frío bosque solo.
