A hungry boy discovers a jar full of delicious nuts and reaches inside to grab as many as he can. But when he tries to pull his hand out, he faces an unexpected problem that teaches him an important lesson.
A boy saw a jar full of nuts.
Um menino viu um pote cheio de nozes.
The jar had a small opening at the top.
O jarro tinha uma pequena abertura no topo.
The boy put his hand inside the jar.
O menino colocou a mão dentro do pote.
He grabbed as many nuts as he could hold.
Ele agarrou tantas nozes quantas conseguiu segurar.
Now his hand was full of nuts.
Agora sua mão estava cheia de nozes.
But his hand was too big to come out of the jar.
Mas sua mão estava grande demais para sair do pote.
The boy tried to pull his hand out.
O menino tentou puxar a mão para fora.
He could not do it.
Ele não conseguiu.
His hand was stuck.
Sua mão estava presa.
The boy started to cry.
O menino começou a chorar.
He wanted the nuts, but he also wanted his hand free.
Ele queria as nozes, mas também queria a mão livre.
An old man walked by.
Um velho passou por ali.
He saw the boy crying.
Ele viu o menino chorando.
"What is wrong?"
"O que há de errado?"
asked the old man.
perguntou o velho.
"My hand is stuck in this jar,"
"Minha mão está presa neste frasco,"
said the boy.
disse o menino.
The old man looked at the jar.
O velho olhou para o jarro.
He looked at the boy's hand.
Ele olhou para a mão do menino.
"Let go of half the nuts,"
"Largue metade das nozes,"
said the old man.
disse o velho.
"Then your hand will come out."
"Então sua mão sairá."
The boy did not want to let go of the nuts.
O menino não queria soltar as nozes.
But finally, he dropped half of them.
Mas finalmente, ele deixou cair metade delas.
His hand became smaller.
Sua mão ficou menor.
Now he could pull his hand out of the jar.
Agora ele conseguia tirar a mão do frasco.
The boy was free.
O menino estava livre.
He still had some nuts to eat.
Ele ainda tinha algumas nozes para comer.
