The Boy & the Filberts

A boy saw a jar full of nuts.

Chłopiec zobaczył słoik pełen orzechów.

The jar had a small opening at the top.

Słoik miał u góry mały otwór.

The boy put his hand inside the jar.

Chłopiec włożył rękę do słoika.

He grabbed as many nuts as he could hold.

Złapał tyle orzechów, ile mógł utrzymać w dłoni.

Now his hand was full of nuts.

Teraz jego dłoń była pełna orzechów.

But his hand was too big to come out of the jar.

Ale jego dłoń była zbyt duża, żeby wyjść ze słoika.

The boy tried to pull his hand out.

Chłopiec próbował wyciągnąć rękę.

He could not do it.

Nie mógł tego zrobić.

His hand was stuck.

Jego ręka utknęła.

The boy started to cry.

Chłopiec zaczął płakać.

He wanted the nuts, but he also wanted his hand free.

Chciał orzechów, ale chciał też uwolnić rękę.

An old man walked by.

Przechodził tamtędy starszy mężczyzna.

He saw the boy crying.

Zobaczył płaczącego chłopca.

"What is wrong?"

asked the old man.

"My hand is stuck in this jar,"

said the boy.

He looked at the boy's hand.

"Let go of half the nuts,"

said the old man.

The boy did not want to let go of the nuts.

Chłopiec nie chciał puścić orzechów.

But finally, he dropped half of them.

Ale w końcu upuścił połowę z nich.

His hand became smaller.

Now he could pull his hand out of the jar.

The boy was free.

He still had some nuts to eat.
